Secure Bike Parking in Kingston

Your bike will still be in these spots when you come back!

Secure Bike Parking in Kingston

The number of places to lock up your bike in Kingston has been growing, but it's still hard to find a spot that's secure enough to leave your bike for several hours and catch the bus in to work. Here's THREE spaces for bike parking with great security that'll give you confidence in your bike still being there when you come back!

Kingborough Community Hub

The Kingborough Community Hub's bike parking is covered by a CCTV camera and has passive surveillance from staff and community minded people occupying the office and event spaces immediately next to the parking! All this surveillance should do a great job of deterring thieves during the day.

This spot is also just a minute's walk from the bus stop for busses to and from Hobart.

Kingston Wetlands - Channel Highway

Just north of the Kingston Hotel is 4 completely enclosed bicycle lockers!

Many thefts are opportunistic. These lockers hide what's inside, reducing the likelihood that a thief would even consider breaking locks and taking bikes.

In addition to physical security, these lockers receive passive surveillance from waiting bus passengers, bus drivers and the high volume of traffic on the Channel Highway.

Kingston Plaza Shopping Centre

The outside area of Kingston Plaza Shopping Centre is COVERED by more than 10 CCTV cameras! This includes one that points directly at the bike racks!

If anyone was clueless enough to steal something from your bike here, there will be plenty of footage of them going about the shopping centre for the police to make an identification.

This location is also highly exposed and covered by passive surveillance from shoppers.

COMING SOON - Spring Farm Village Shopping Centre

Scott Spanton, CEO of Tipalea, the developer behind Kingston's newest shopping centre has been spruiking their plans for Spring Farm Village's advanced CCTV system and bike parking. I have had some communication with Scott about bike parking and expect the result to surpass that of Kingston Plaza, with Scott looking at installing bike parking right outside the supermarket instead of completely out of the way.
