work with me

How to get people to buy in to your ideas. Light holiday reading 😂

Mark holding up the book "work with me: How to get people to buy in to your ideas" by Simon Dowling

I picked this up while looking for holiday activities at Officeworks and figured it would be highly relevant to growing my career in software development, Kingborough Bicycle Advisory Committee and other local government involvement.

It covers the qualities of people who are effective at communicating their ideas and the important steps to go though to have the best chance of getting people on board with your ideas. e.g. new apps/features, new infrastructure projects or policy changes.

So far the topics are extremely relatable to local government, even specifically to the motion I made in, and was adopted by, KBAC that recently progressed to a meeting for the consideration of Kingborough Councillors. The book highlighted a few things that I neglected in the process of raising this idea and getting everyone on board which could have made the things smoother, faster and improved the chances of success!

It's only day 4 of my 21 day holiday and this book's almost done. I'm going to need to find more books!
